Honor 10 Lite Review
Huawei’s Sub-Brand Honor had launched several smartphones in the market last year. The company’s focus was on the budget segment with the best design and competent hardware. We got the Dewans Powerful Honor Play for gaming. Honor 10 Lite is the first handset company in the Indian market this year. It comes with a Kirin 710 processor and large display equipped with DuDrop Knouch. The interesting thing is that the company has kept the price of Honor 10 Lite in such a segment, where there is already tremendous competition in the market. Will Honor 10 Lite emerge as the most popular? Let’s know through the review …
Honor 10 Lite Design
As soon as you look at the device’s glossy back panel, you will be guessed that this is the phone of Honor. Honor is known to give such a finish in his device. We’ve reviewed the Safer Blue Finnish variant. Sky Blue and Midnight Black Variants have also been dropped in the market. The reviewed variant reminds us of Honor 8X (review) and Honor 9N (review).
The problem is that even the traces of spots are easily dropped on the back. With this phone of Honor, a transparent case comes in the retail box, which will prove to be helpful. Honor 10 Lite is the company’s first phone to come with DuDrop Notch. Very small is in the middle of the top of the Nokia display. It’s just a place for selfie cameras. To make Knock short, Honor has shifted the earpiece to the frame of the smartphone. The notification light has gone to lower bezel, it will be guessed when you blink it.
Aspect Ratio of the 6.21 inch screen is 19.5: 9. It is equipped with full-HD + resolution. Honor claims that due to the Chip on Film Screen Technology, he has been able to dilute Bottom Bezal very thin. The back part of the phone with the frame is made of plastic and it does not charge premium anywhere. Probably the company has been able to keep the handset price and weight low due to this.
Honor has given the power and volume buttons to the right. Power button is easy to reach. But there may be some difficulty reaching the volume button. The left edge of the phone is completely empty. SIM tray is on top, with secondary microphone. At the bottom is a micro-USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, primary mic and bottom firing loudspeaker. This phone of Honor comes with a 10 Watt charger. Honor 10 Lite has a dual rear camera setup. The rear side has LED flash and fingerprint sensor. Honor has made the edges of this phone curved, so that the phone’s grip is good.
Honor 10 Lite specifications and software
Honor claims that 10 light handsets come with 91 percent screen to body ratio. The 6.21 inch panel is 19.5: 9 aspect ratios and full-HD + resolution. No information about the protection of the display has been given on the display. In this way we suggest you to be a little careful about the device.
The HonorKirin 710 processor has been used in the Honor 10 Lite, which has been part of Huawei Nova 3i and Honor 8X. It is an octa-core processor based on 12nm process. Its clock speed is 2.2 GHz. Honor 10 Lite has options for 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM. Both variants have inbuilt storage 64 GB.
If you are not satisfied with the current storage then you can use MicroSD card upto 512 GB, via the hybrid sim slot. If you do not want to increase the storage then two nano sim can be used simultaneously. The device supports dual 4G VoLTE. Other connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, GPS and GLONASS.
Honor 10 Lite is the company’s first smartphone which comes with Out of Box Android Pie. It has EMUI 9.0.1, which also with the security patches of November. Overall UI is similar to the old version of EMUI. Like other recently launched smartphones, you will have the option of enabling gesture navigation. This hides the Android navigation bar and lets you swipe to navigate. Apart from this, there are many gesture controls.
Honor 10 Lite Performance, Battery Life and Camera
The Kirin 710 processor handles de-to-day tasks very easily. Our user experience with 4 GB RAM variants for review is very smooth. During multitasking, there was no complaint of slow down the phone.
During use we found that fingerprint was a bit slow to unlock the phone. There is also Face Unlock which uses the selfie camera. Face recognition was faster and it was successful in unlocking the phone in most of the circumstances.
In our benchmark test, Kirin 710 gave Snapdragon 660 better results in the CPU benchmark but lagged behind in the GPU test.
Run on the Honor 10 Lite PUBG Mobile Game Medium setting. We found that after playing this game for about 36 minutes, the battery decreased by 11 per cent.
In our HD Video Loop Test, the Honor 10 Light 3400 mAh battery lasted 11 hours and 20 minutes. In common use, we were active on WhatsApp, played games for nearly an hour, used Google Maps for 50 minutes and saw some YouTube videos, 24 hours later, about 46 percent of the battery was left. Honor does not offer a fast charger in the retail box. The 10 watt charger with it charges the phone slower.
The Honor 10 Lite has dual camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is 13 megapixels and together with a depth of 2 megapixels the depth sensor. For Selfie you get 24 megapixel camera. The camera software is similar to other smartphones in Honor. The company says that both camera setups are equipped with AI.
In addition to common photo and video modes, modes like aperture, knight, portrait, panorama, pro and time-lapse will be found. HDR is available as a separate mode, not with a quick toggle. HiVision feature is also part of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. But its features are limited.
Honor 10 Lite makes fast focus and also recognizes Seen’s right. Smartphone makes perfect detection when AI mode is enabled. In this mode the output is highly retired. On the phone’s display the sky is more blue and the grass looks more green, but it seems artificial.
The photos taken without AI were better at some occasions, especially in the macro shot. In Landscape Shot, Honor 10 Lite was not successful in capturing details of distant objects. Macro shot AI without AI mode is better than shot with AI mode. Honor 10 Light did fine separation in the subject and background.
Honor 10 Lite did not produce great output in portrait mode. Edge Detection was not accurate. On some occasions, the phone did not completely blur the background. Performance in low light was even weaker than average. If AI is enabled, the knight mode of the phone is automatically activated, so the shutter is open for a long time. For this reason, if the subject moves while taking the shot, then the shot comes blurry. The photographs taken in the night were not Noyez, but the output came from GRAIN and there was also lack of detail.
In the selfie camera, the beautification mode remains active, with photos smoother. If you wish you can switch it off or set the level of the beautification. There is also Bokeh mode by which you can blur background.
You will be able to record up to 1080 pixels of video from primary and selfie cameras. You have the option to record video at 60 frames per second from the rear camera. But there is no output stabilization due to output shakei.
Honor 10 Lite, Honor has another claim in the price segment of Rs 15,000. Talk about different identities, then 10 Lite Glossy comes with Finnish. This is Honor’s first phone to come up with DuDrrop Notch and Out of Box Android Pie.
Kirin 710 is a powerful processor, which gives a strong challenge to this segment’s popular Snapdragon 660 processor. But in the case of the camera, the claim of Honor 10 Lite becomes a little weak. This phone will get a strong challenge from Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 (review), Realme U1 (review) and Xiaomi Mi A2 (review). Its 4 GB / 64 GB variant, which can be found in Rs. 13,999, can be considered, but it is not an appeal in the 6 GB / 64 GB variants of Rs. 17,999.
